Rain jackets are challenging for my body pear body shape. If it fits in the hips I'm swimming in it up top, if it fits in the top, I can't zip the darned thing up. While trench coats are a great solution for figures that need waist definition, they traditionally don't have hoods which makes them pretty useless as rain coats. This jacket is the perfect solution with its trench coat styling but practical rain jacket features. The belt provides the definition I need to avoid looking like a blob on top while still getting the comfortable fit in the hips.. The other part I like is that the zipper is 2-way, so you can create a gap from the bottom if you need any extra room in the hips. You can also just snap the jacket and you do get sufficient coverage that way as well. Overall the styling is great, I can wear this with both business casual attire and casual wear making it very versatile. My measurements are 38-34-45 (47" in the lower hip where most of my weight is), slightly longer torso than legs, and I'm 5'6". The XL fits perfectly in the hips with room. Regarding sizing, I have another rain jacket from Columbia that is an XL and fits in the hips, so I ordered the same size for this one and found the fit to be consistent. I'd recommend checking the Columbia size chart and possibly talking to someone from their customer service department to find out actual garment measurements if you have any concerns. Based on my limited experience, if you can find somewhere to try on Columbia jackets, you can probably get an accurate idea of your size in this brand that way. I did not find this jacket to fit differently than other rain jackets of theirs I've owned or tried on in the past.As a rain jacket, it is sufficiently waterproof and keeps me dry. I live in the Pacific Northwest and most of our rain is more of a cloud sweat than an actual torrential downpour. In some climates, rain goes with increased humidity so that might explain the wetness folks are experiencing. I have not experienced this in the cooler climate of the PacNW but I certainly did when i was in Spain (and it was very humid). Sweating will usually do that too. This isn't a high performance sport jacket, so if you sweat a lot and need something that's going to breathe well and also repel water, you'll want to spend more money on a jacket made of that sort of material. I think the emphasis with this jacket is to provide a more fashionable option to the basic rain jacket.I have two gripes. One is that the sleeves are too long on me and there's really no easy way to adjust them. You can't really roll them up because of the trench coat detailing. There are two snaps around the cuff, so I'm able to use the smaller one which helps a little. Not a deal breaker but at least on my other jacket I can cuff or roll the sleeves. The second gripe is that the zipper is kind of sticky and fiddly.I bought this coat for an upcoming summer trip to Ireland. Needed something light and packable that would protect me from unpredictable drizzly weather. The “grey” color is definitely more of a khaki, which is what I was hoping for (and how it looks in the picture - I am not sure why they call it grey). I took off a star because the sleeves are a little too long and look awkward, PLUS the little strap/sash you tie across the waist is not removable! It’s sewn into the jacket on BOTH the inside and outside of the coat, so you can’t remove it without ruining the jacket. I’m disappointed in that feature because it looks awkward to wear it untied with the straps hanging on the side. I actually ended up tying it so it’s tied up in the back in hopes that I can just leave it like that and I won’t have to keep tying and untying it all day long. It looks cute but it’s still kinda frustrating to not have the option to remove the tie. Just sayin. Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase and think this jacket will be perfect for many, many occasions. It’s stylish but functional.I am SO HAPPY with this purchase. First of all, I'm not sure why it's so hard to find a rain jacket that extends past the butt. Who wants their jeans to get soaking in a rain storm??I took a backpacking trip to London and to avoid taking up some of my precious backpack space for an umbrella, I decided to opt for a rain jacket instead. A big plus is how lightweight this coat is - I could pack it in my backpack and not worry about the 10 kg weight limit. What I love about this jacket in particular is that it's cute enough to just be a normal jacket too, so I wore it almost every day. On nicer days I wore my pleather jacket and on really cold days I layered this jacket on top of the pleather one. That's right, on top of! The sleeves are loose enough that you can do this easily, but the built in belt means you can cinch it in at the waist to not be so bulky. So I actually bought this in two sizes initally (XS and S). I'm 5'4 ~115 lbs and knew I wanted to be able to fit bulkier clothes underneath and use this as a shell. I ended up keeping the XS and, like I said, still had room for a thick pleather jacket and normal clothes underneath, so I'd say this runs large. It has looser sleeves which is why I think I could layer under the XS.I wear this all the time now even when it's not raining. If you are traveling and are a minimalist I'd dare to say this coat is essential. It's not overly warm so it can be worn just about year round depending on what you wear underneath it. My only wishlist would be an interior chest pocket for storing valuables when you want to keep your hands in the pockets.I bought this for a fall trip to UK, and to have for the occasional rainy day in SoCal (and future trips to rainier climates). Let me first say it is DEFINITELY waterproof. I walked around in the rain of Edinburgh and part of me under the jacket stayed completely dry. Also, since it is waterproof, it does not breathe, so be prepared to sweat if you have it on when it is not cold/rainy. It is light and can be folded to a very compact size, which is great for travel. There is no lining, so for warmth I simply wore warm sweaters underneath, and that was more than sufficient. I used the Columbia sizing chart for my order and opted for the smaller of the two sizes I appeared to be between, and found that to be even roomier than expected, so I say even with the sizing chart, this particular style tends to run a tad larger than the listed measurements. That worked out perfectly for me, but if you want a nice snug fit, you may elect to go one size down from the one that looks like it would fit snuggly. The belt is attached, which I found very convenient for travel purposes, but if you aren't a fan of the belted look, then definitely don't get this one. I bought the khaki gray color, which I love; paired perfectly leggings for the day and jeans/black pants for evening.Bottom line: If you are need of a good, lightweight raincoat that also looks a little less sporty, this is for you.Bought this jacket for a trip to Ireland and Scotland and needed something waterproof. In the past I’ve trusted Columbia as a good brand for sporty outerwear, so I thought a jacket marketed as waterproof and with “omnishield” would serve me well in the rain. Unfortunately I was very wrong. In anything more than a light mist for more than 15 minutes and the jacket was getting saturated with water rather than repelling it. On heavier rain days I soaked through two under layers especially at my shoulders and elbows, and could wring water out of the jacket it was so wet.Good hood, although no toggles on the string to lock it in a cinched position, double zipper a nice feature as well as the belt and longer length.I love this coat! I get loads of compliments, and I love the way it looks on me. It is not thick or bulky, and it doesn't trap the heat.I'm 5'7 and the length is perfect - totally covers my stomach. The only thing I'm not in love with is the location of the belt - as an apple shape, I wish it wasn't sewn in place at the back so I could wear it higher, but that's more personal preference, due to the shape of my body. Totally NOT a deal-breaker!Recommend!Love the look and fit of this coat. I've worn in several times in rainy weather, and it's kept me nice and dry. The hood cinches up really tight for those of us who need to create a protective barrier between rain and our frizz-prone hair. I bought this hoping for a stylish, trenchcoat-like piece that stands up to the elements, and I've been very satisfied with it.Elegante y casual al mismo tiempo. Queda bien tanto con falda/vestido como con pantalones.El corte corresponde a la verdadera talla XS.oh what a beautiful jacket....m madly in love....im medium, purchased medium.....EXCELLENT
