I bought this rain suit because I need gear that is actually waterproof, not just water resistant or waterproof for a short period of time. I use this outfit to do farm chores in the Pacific Northwest wet winters, where I'm outside for hours in steady rain and getting on and off a wet tractor seat. I need rain pants that will not allow water to soak through to my jeans even when I sit in a quarter inch of standing water. This outfit gets top marks for waterproof performance. On fit, the suit is designed for men, not women, despite the description describing it as being for both. I am 5 ft 6 in tall, 140 lbs, and I bought the size small. The jacket is very loose across the chest and the sleeves are long (extending to cover rings on my fingers). The pants on the other hand are snug in the waist and a bit short in length (hitting just above the ankle). If I were to buy the jacket and pants separately, I would try a medium pant and an extra small jacket. That said, I'm ok with the fit of the smalls for now and will wait until they need to be replaced to adjust the sizing. The loose jacket allows me to layer generously underneath and the pants are not too snug or short as to be uncomfortable.
